Natural parks, hidden villages, and cities of art. Umbria welcomes you with its quiet, timeless charm. From cultural festivals to nature trails, every experience is an invitation to truly connect with the land and its traditions.

STORIES OF TODI

Todi is a city suspended in time, where history, art, and legend intertwine. According to tradition, it was founded under the sign of the eagle and, over the centuries, has lived through Etruscan, Roman, and medieval eras, becoming an important political and spiritual center. To walk through Todi is to cross layers of history that coexist in remarkable harmony.

Piazza del Popolo

The civic and symbolic heart of the city, Piazza del Popolo is one of the most harmonious examples of a medieval square in Italy. Overlooking it are the Palazzo del Popolo, the Palazzo dei Priori, and the Duomo — witnesses to centuries of political and religious life. From beneath the square, evocative Roman-era cisterns can still be visited, revealing a city built upon multiple historical layers.

Tempio di San Fortunato

Rising at the top of a monumental staircase, the Tempio di San Fortunato blends early Christian and Gothic elements. Built on an ancient Etruscan-Roman structure, it was expanded by the Franciscans between the 13th and 15th centuries. Its unfinished façade gives the church a unique and mysterious charm. In the crypt, the relics of the city’s patron saint, Fortunato, rest alongside a fresco dedicated to Jacopone da Todi.

Santa Maria della Consolazione

Built between 1508 and 1607, the Tempio di Santa Maria della Consolazione is a masterpiece of the Umbrian Renaissance. Its Greek-cross plan and the great dome attributed to Bramante create a perfect balance of harmony and light. The church stands on the site of a miracle linked to the healing of a blind stonemason. Located just outside the city walls, it can be admired from afar, set against the rolling hills of Todi.
